Company intelligence / Profile preview
SYGNIS was a life sciences company specializing in the development and commercialization of tools for DNA amplification and sequencing. The company's core technology, TruePrime, utilized a unique primase-based mechanism for whole genome amplification, offering high sensitivity and accuracy for genomics research. After acquiring several companies including Expedeon and Innova Biosciences, SYGNIS rebranded as Expedeon AG in 2018 to reflect its broader focus on proteomics and genomics. In 2020, the company sold its proteomics and immunology business to Abcam for approximately €120 million. The remaining genomics business was subsequently restructured and renamed 4basebio, focusing on synthetic DNA production for gene therapies and vaccines.
