Overview
Synairgen’s lead asset SNG001—an inhaled interferon beta—is being developed as a broad-spectrum antiviral therapy targeting severe respiratory viral infections. Early trials showed promise in reducing risk of severe COVID‑19; however, larger studies such as the SPRINTER Phase III trial did not meet primary endpoints but suggested potential benefit in certain subgroups. The next clinical focus will be on critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation due to respiratory viruses.[2][4]
