Synosis Therapeutics

Synosis Therapeutics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to the discovery and development of novel treatments for central nervous system (CNS) disorders. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in South San Francisco and Basel, the company built its pipeline through a significant licensing agreement with Roche, acquiring rights to several high-potential small molecule programs. Its lead candidate, tozadenant (SYN115), was an adenosine A2A receptor antagonist developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Other programs targeted indications such as Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, and schizophrenia. In 2011, Synosis was acquired by the Finnish company Biotie Therapies in an all-stock transaction to consolidate their CNS portfolios. The company's assets eventually transitioned to Acorda Therapeutics following its acquisition of Biotie in 2016.
