Synovics Pharmaceuticals is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of generic over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription drug products. The company specialized in difficult-to-formulate and oral controlled-release medications, utilizing proprietary delivery technologies to create generic versions of branded drugs. Its portfolio included treatments for type 2 diabetes, such as metformin extended-release, as well as a variety of private-label OTC products including analgesics, antihistamines, and cough and cold remedies. Synovics operated primarily through its subsidiaries, Kirk Pharmaceuticals and ANDAPharm, and established a strategic partnership with Maneesh Pharmaceuticals in 2008 to enhance its global manufacturing and R&D capabilities. Although it was once publicly traded, the company's operations were later integrated into its parent organization.
