Synpac Venture Capital is the investment and strategic arm of the Synpac Group, a Taiwanese-based conglomerate with a significant historical footprint in the global biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. The company is most notably recognized for its pivotal role in the early development and funding of the first enzyme replacement therapy for Pompe disease, alglucosidase alfa, which was developed in collaboration with Duke University. After successfully advancing the program through early clinical stages, Synpac licensed the technology to Genzyme (now Sanofi) in a landmark agreement. Historically, the broader Synpac organization was also a major producer of bulk penicillin, operating large-scale manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom. Today, the firm focuses on strategic investments in life sciences, healthcare technology, and specialty chemicals, leveraging its deep industry expertise to support emerging innovations.
