Syros Therapeutics

Syros Therapeutics, historically known as Syros Pharmaceuticals, was a U.S. clinical-stage biotech focused on small-molecule medicines that modulate gene expression, primarily in hematologic malignancies. Its lead asset was tamibarotene, an oral selective retinoic acid receptor alpha agonist evaluated in biomarker-defined higher-risk myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia with RARA overexpression. The company also developed SY-2101, an oral arsenic trioxide program for acute promyelocytic leukemia, and previously advanced SY-5609, a selective cyclin-dependent kinase 7 inhibitor. Syros built the company around a proprietary gene control platform intended to identify disease-driving regulatory nodes and matched patient subsets. Following a Phase 3 failure for tamibarotene, the company moved to delist from Nasdaq, deregister with the SEC, and wind down operations in 2025. Tamibarotene-related assets were subsequently sold to Rege Nephro.
