T-CiRA

T-CiRA is a decade-long joint research collaboration between Takeda Pharmaceutical Company and the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) at Kyoto University. Launched in 2015 under the direction of Nobel laureate Dr. Shinya Yamanaka, the program is dedicated to translating induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology into clinical therapies. Based at Takeda's Shonan Health Innovation Park, the initiative pursues multiple projects across oncology, regenerative medicine, and rare diseases. The collaboration leverages CiRA's foundational stem cell research and Takeda's industrial expertise to develop next-generation cell therapies and drug discovery tools. Key focus areas include the development of iPSC-derived CAR-T cells for cancer and cell replacement therapies for heart failure and diabetes. The partnership represents one of the most significant academic-industrial alliances in the field of regenerative medicine.
