Take Heart America

Take Heart America is an international cardiac arrest survival initiative and non-profit organization dedicated to increasing neurologically intact survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Founded in 2005 by Dr. Keith Lurie and Robert Niskanen, the organization promotes a comprehensive "Bundle of Care" known as the Neuroprotective CPR Strategy (NCPR). This strategy integrates advanced resuscitation technologies—such as the Impedance Threshold Device (ITD), active compression-decompression CPR, and head-up CPR—with coordinated protocols across the chain of survival. Take Heart America works with communities, EMS agencies, and hospitals to implement these data-driven life-saving measures and hosts an annual conference to advance resuscitation science.
