Targent Pharmaceuticals

Targent Pharmaceuticals was a biopharmaceutical company based in Princeton, New Jersey, that specialized in the development of oncology therapeutics. The company's lead product was TGT-001, also known as Isovorin (levofolinic acid), which is the active isomer of leucovorin used to enhance the efficacy of 5-fluorouracil in the treatment of colorectal cancer. Targent also developed TGT-123, a novel formulation of paclitaxel intended to improve the safety and delivery of the chemotherapy agent. In 2006, Targent was acquired by Spectrum Pharmaceuticals, which integrated Targent's late-stage oncology assets into its clinical pipeline. The acquisition provided Spectrum with a marketed product and additional candidates to strengthen its position in the cancer treatment market.
