Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Tat Vaccine Partnership (TVP) is an international public-private partnership dedicated to the clinical development and registration of a therapeutic vaccine for HIV/AIDS. Coordinated by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) and initiated by the Italian National AIDS Center (CNAIDS) at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, the partnership aggregates public and private entities to fund and implement clinical trials. Its lead candidate, TatImmune, is a therapeutic vaccine targeting the HIV-1 Tat protein, designed to reduce viral reservoirs and restore immune function in patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART). The partnership focuses on completing Phase III trials and expanding access to the vaccine, particularly in high-incidence regions like South Africa. By leveraging international collaborations, the TVP aims to provide a functional cure and improve long-term outcomes for people living with HIV.
