Company intelligence / Profile preview
Tear Film Innovations developed the iLux® device for the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction—a leading cause of evaporative dry eye. The iLux® system uses light-based heat and manual compression to unblock meibomian glands during an in-office procedure. The product received FDA clearance in late 2017 and was launched commercially in mid–2018. It was well-received by ophthalmologists prior to the company’s acquisition by Alcon at the end of 2018.
