Tektagen

Tektagen was a specialized contract research organization (CRO) that provided comprehensive biosafety testing services to the biopharmaceutical industry. The company focused on ensuring the safety and purity of biologic drugs through viral clearance studies, cell bank characterization, and mycoplasma testing. Headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania, Tektagen served a global client base of biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms, helping them meet stringent regulatory requirements for clinical trials and commercial production. Its expertise was particularly critical for the development of recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies. In June 2004, Tektagen was acquired by Charles River Laboratories for approximately $17 million, where it was integrated into their Biopharmaceutical Services division.
