Telectronics Pacing Systems

Telectronics Pacing Systems was a cardiac rhythm management company focused on implantable pacemakers, pacemaker leads, and related heart rhythm devices. Originating from the Australian Telectronics business and later operating in the U.S. as Telectronics Pacing Systems, the company became a significant pacemaker manufacturer with operations in multiple geographies. Its products were commercialized rather than developed through a drug-style clinical pipeline. The company became widely associated with the Accufix Atrial "J" pacemaker lead recall and related product-liability litigation in the mid-1990s. In 1996, substantially all of its cardiac rhythm management assets were acquired by St. Jude Medical through its Pacesetter subsidiary, and the business no longer exists as an independent active company.
