Tepnel Lifecodes was a leading molecular diagnostics company focused on transplant immunology and personalized medicine. The entity was created when the UK-based Tepnel Life Sciences acquired the US-based Lifecodes Corporation, combining expertise in DNA-based testing and HLA typing. The company's primary products included assays for matching donors and recipients in organ and bone marrow transplantations, utilizing technologies like Luminex xMAP. Beyond transplantation, Tepnel Lifecodes provided pharmacogenomic services to the pharmaceutical industry to support drug development and patient stratification. In 2009, the company was acquired by Gen-Probe for approximately $132 million, and the Lifecodes business unit was subsequently sold to Immucor in 2013.
