Tercica

Tercica was a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to improving the lives of patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. The company's flagship product, Increlex (mecasermin), is a recombinant human insulin-like growth factor-1 (rhIGF-1) therapy approved for the long-term treatment of growth failure in children with severe primary IGF-1 deficiency. Beyond its lead product, Tercica collaborated with Ipsen to commercialize Somatuline Depot (lanreotide) in the United States for the treatment of acromegaly. Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Brisbane, California, the company successfully transitioned from a development-stage entity to a commercial organization before being acquired. In 2008, Tercica was acquired by the French pharmaceutical company Ipsen, which integrated Tercica's operations to expand its global endocrinology franchise.
