Terraza Pharma is a biotechnology company that was acquired by Kriya Therapeutics in January 2022 to strengthen its ophthalmology gene therapy portfolio. The company focused on developing one-time gene therapies for geographic atrophy (GA), a late-stage form of age-related macular degeneration. Terraza's lead program, now known as KRIYA-825, utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver a gene encoding a complement regulatory protein directly to the eye. This approach is designed to slow the progression of GA by inhibiting the overactive complement system, which is a key driver of the disease.
