Texas Mental Health Consumers

Texas Mental Health Consumers (TMHC) is a statewide, peer-led non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals living with mental health conditions through advocacy, education, and support. Founded on the principle of "peers helping peers," the organization provides a collective voice for those with lived experience to influence mental health policy and service delivery in Texas. TMHC is instrumental in the development of recovery-oriented systems of care and the training and certification of Peer Specialists. Their services include technical assistance for consumer-run organizations, leadership development, and public policy advocacy at the state legislative level. The organization serves as a critical bridge between mental health consumers and the broader healthcare provider community.
