The Blood Center

The Blood Center is a non-profit community service organization that serves as the primary supplier of blood and blood components to over 50 hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout Southeast Louisiana and Southern Mississippi. The organization operates numerous donor centers and mobile units to collect whole blood, platelets, and plasma, ensuring a stable supply for trauma cases, surgeries, and chronic disease management. Beyond traditional blood banking, the center provides specialized laboratory services, including reference immunology and histocompatibility testing. It also supports advanced medical treatments through the collection of specialized blood products used in therapeutic apheresis and cellular therapies.
