Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Blueprint Initiative was a non-profit bioinformatics organization based in Toronto, Canada, that specialized in the curation and management of large-scale biological datasets. The organization is best known for developing the Biomolecular Interaction Network Database (BIND), which was one of the first comprehensive repositories for protein-protein, protein-nucleic acid, and small molecule interactions. By providing open-access data and sophisticated visualization tools, the initiative supported global research efforts in proteomics and systems biology. At its peak, it employed a large team of curators to ensure the high quality and standardization of the interaction data. In 2005, the initiative's primary assets, including the BIND database, were acquired by Thomson Scientific (now Clarivate), effectively concluding the organization's independent research activities.
