Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Medical Marketing Group (TMMG) was a pioneering healthcare marketing and patient recruitment firm that significantly influenced the clinical trial landscape in the late 20th century. Founded in the mid-1980s and based in Valhalla, New York, the company was the first to utilize large-scale database marketing to identify and recruit patients for pharmaceutical clinical trials. This innovative approach addressed one of the most significant bottlenecks in drug development: the timely enrollment of qualified participants. In 1993, TMMG was acquired by Medco Containment Services, which was subsequently acquired by Merck & Co. later that year for $6.6 billion. The company's founders, including Dean Steinman and Craig Allison, later established Acurian, continuing their influence on the patient recruitment industry. TMMG is recognized for establishing the database-driven recruitment model that remains a standard in the CRO and pharma services sector today.
