The New York Hospital

The New York Hospital was a historic nonprofit academic hospital in New York City and one of the oldest hospitals in the United States. It served as the principal hospital affiliated with Cornell University's medical school and ultimately became associated with the Weill Cornell campus. The institution provided broad inpatient, surgical, emergency, specialty, teaching, and research services rather than operating as a drug-development biotech or pharmaceutical company. On January 1, 1998, it publicly announced and completed a full-asset merger with The Presbyterian Hospital to form NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. As a standalone organization, The New York Hospital is no longer active, but its legacy continues through NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
