The Ottawa Hospital Academic Medical Organization

The Ottawa Hospital Academic Medical Organization (TOHAMO) is a non-profit corporation that governs the Alternative Funding Plan (AFP) for physicians at The Ottawa Hospital. Established as a partnership between the hospital, the University of Ottawa, the Ontario Ministry of Health, and the Ontario Medical Association, it supports the tripartite academic mission of clinical care, research, and education. TOHAMO provides a governance structure and funding mechanisms to foster medical innovation and professional development for over 1,000 participating physicians. The organization is instrumental in administering the Innovation Fund, which supports physician-led projects aimed at improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes.
