Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Polymer Technology Group (PTG) was a leading developer and manufacturer of high-performance medical polymers and biomaterials. Founded in 1989, the company specialized in the synthesis and fabrication of specialty polymers used in critical medical device applications, such as chronic implants and drug-delivery systems. Their proprietary technology platforms, including BioSpan, Elasthane, and CarboSil, provided biocompatible solutions for cardiovascular, orthopedic, and neurological devices. A key innovation was their Surface Modifying End Groups (SME) technology, which enabled the customization of polymer surfaces for specific biological interactions. In 2008, PTG was acquired by DSM, becoming a core part of DSM Biomedical's materials portfolio.
