The Water Trust

The Water Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving public health in rural East Africa through sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions. Founded in 2008, the organization empowers communities to manage their own water points and adopt healthy hygiene practices to prevent waterborne diseases. Their approach integrates community-led initiatives, such as Self-Help Groups, with technical infrastructure projects like well construction and latrine building. By focusing on long-term sustainability and behavior change, The Water Trust aims to reduce preventable deaths and improve the quality of life for underserved populations in Uganda. The organization is supported by major healthcare-focused foundations and collaborates with academic institutions to evaluate the health outcomes of its programs.
