Theracon

Therachon was a clinical-stage rare-disease biotechnology company based in Basel, Switzerland, focused on therapies for genetically defined severe conditions with high unmet need. Its lead program, TA-46, was a protein therapy for achondroplasia, while its second key asset was apraglutide, a long-acting glucagon-like peptide 2 analog for short bowel syndrome. In May 2019, Pfizer agreed to acquire Therachon for $340 million upfront plus up to $470 million in milestone payments, primarily to obtain TA-46 and expand its rare-disease portfolio. Before closing, Therachon spun out the apraglutide program into a separate company that became VectivBio. Therachon is therefore no longer operating as an independent company.
