Company intelligence / Profile preview
TheraPei Pharmaceuticals was a San Diego-based biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapeutics for metabolic diseases and oncology. Spun out of Sequenom in 2005, the company leveraged genomic insights to identify and develop small molecule candidates, most notably the brain-penetrant taxane TPI 287. TheraPei was acquired by Forbes Medi-Tech in 2006, and its pharmaceutical assets were subsequently sold to Transition Therapeutics in 2008. The company's lead programs targeted Type 2 diabetes and various cancers, with TPI 287 continuing development through several subsequent owners for indications like glioblastoma and neuroblastoma.
