Company intelligence / Profile preview
Therative, Inc. was a medical technology company that specialized in developing advanced consumer-oriented dermatological devices. Founded in 2004 and based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the company is best known for its flagship product, ThermaClear, a handheld acne treatment device that received FDA clearance in 2006. ThermaClear utilized proprietary Thermal Pulse Technology to deliver a controlled burst of heat to individual pimples, neutralizing acne-causing bacteria and accelerating healing without the use of topical medications. Despite achieving significant retail success through partnerships with Sephora and HSN, the company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 following the global economic downturn. Its intellectual property and product assets were subsequently acquired by Philips.
