Therillume

Therillume is a pre-clinical stage biotechnology company developing a platform for light-activated targeted protein degradation (TPD) and other precision therapeutics. Spun out of Duke University, the company utilizes proprietary near-infrared (NIR) light-sensitive chemistry to achieve precise spatial and temporal control over drug activation. By triggering the activity of "Photo-PROTACs" specifically at the site of disease, Therillume aims to minimize systemic toxicity and off-target effects associated with traditional degradation therapies. The platform is designed to treat deep-seated solid tumors using light that can penetrate biological tissues more effectively than visible light, potentially expanding the utility of photopharmacology to internal malignancies.
