Thermatrx

Thermatrx was a medical technology company specializing in the development of microwave thermotherapy systems for urological and oncological applications. The company's flagship product, the Thermatrx Dose Optimization System, was an FDA-approved, minimally invasive device designed to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) by delivering precisely controlled thermal energy to the prostate. Beyond its commercial success in urology, the company's technology was explored for its potential to enhance the efficacy of cancer treatments through localized hyperthermia. In 2002, Thermatrx was acquired by Celsion Corporation (now known as Imunon) to integrate its thermal therapy expertise with Celsion's heat-sensitive liposomal drug delivery platform. The BPH-related assets were subsequently sold to Urologix, Inc. in 2008 as the parent company shifted its focus toward oncology drug development.
