Theseus Imaging Corporation was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of radiopharmaceutical products for imaging cell death, or apoptosis. Its lead product, Apomate (technetium-99m labeled recombinant human Annexin V), was designed to non-invasively identify and monitor the effectiveness of treatments in various diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular conditions, by binding to phosphatidylserine on the surface of apoptotic cells. The company was acquired by North American Scientific in 1999 and operated as its biotechnology business unit, advancing clinical trials for oncology and cardiology indications. The technology aimed to provide early prediction of treatment response, potentially allowing for more personalized and effective patient care.
