Thetanix

Thetanix is a biotechnology company and Oxford University spin-out focused on developing oral biotherapeutics for inflammatory bowel diseases. The company's core technology utilizes the commensal bacterium Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron as a delivery vehicle for therapeutic proteins directly to the intestinal mucosa. Its lead program, TNX-101, was designed as an oral anti-TNF therapy for pediatric and adult Crohn's disease. Thetanix was acquired by 4D pharma in 2016 to integrate its targeted delivery platform into 4D's live biotherapeutic pipeline. The platform aims to provide localized treatment, reducing the systemic side effects associated with traditional injectable biologics.
