Third Security Staff 2001 LLC was a specialized investment vehicle and management entity affiliated with Third Security, LLC, a venture capital firm led by Randal J. Kirk. The company primarily functioned as a holding entity for equity interests in various biotechnology and life science corporations, most notably Precigen (formerly Intrexon) and Halozyme Therapeutics. It was one of several 'Staff' and 'Incentive' entities utilized by Third Security to manage investment portfolios and affiliate assets. In May 2024, the entity underwent a formal dissolution following a liquidating distribution of its remaining assets, including significant shares in its portfolio companies.
