Company intelligence / Profile preview
Timunox (Timunox AG) was a Swiss biotechnology company primarily focused on the development and commercialization of thymopentin (TP-5), a synthetic pentapeptide derivative of the naturally occurring thymic hormone thymopoietin. The company's lead product, also marketed under the brand name Timunox, was investigated as an immunomodulator for a variety of conditions, including HIV/AIDS, primary immunodeficiencies, and certain cancers. Timunox AG worked closely with Ortho Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) to advance thymopentin through clinical trials during the 1980s and 1990s. While the drug received regulatory approval in several European and Asian markets, the company was eventually integrated into the broader operations of its partners or dissolved. Today, Timunox is primarily recognized as a historical brand name for thymopentin rather than an independent operating entity.
