Tissera

Tissera was an Israeli biotechnology company dedicated to solving the global shortage of donor organs through advanced xenotransplantation and regenerative medicine. The company developed a proprietary platform based on the transplantation of embryonic pig tissue precursors, which were designed to mature into functional, vascularized organs within the host. This approach aimed to minimize the risk of rejection and the transmission of animal-borne diseases compared to adult organ xenotransplantation. Tissera's primary research programs focused on developing treatments for type 1 diabetes, end-stage renal disease, and liver failure. The company's technology was licensed from the Weizmann Institute of Science and led by prominent researchers in the field of immunology. Tissera was publicly traded on the OTC Bulletin Board but ceased active operations in the late 2000s.
