Tissue Science Laboratories (TSL) was a medical technology company specializing in the development and commercialization of proprietary tissue repair products derived from porcine dermis. The company's core technology, Permacol, is an acellular porcine dermal collagen matrix designed for permanent implantation in the human body, offering a scaffold for host tissue ingrowth. TSL's products were primarily utilized in complex surgical procedures, including hernia repair, reconstructive surgery, and urological applications. Founded in 1995 and based in the United Kingdom, the company established itself as a leader in biologic scaffolds before being acquired by Covidien in 2008 for approximately $80 million.
