Company intelligence / Profile preview
Tokos Medical Corporation was a pioneering healthcare company specializing in home-based services and medical devices for high-risk pregnancies. The company was best known for its uterine activity monitoring systems, such as the Term Guard, which allowed for the early detection of preterm labor in pregnant women at home. By combining remote monitoring technology with specialized nursing support, Tokos aimed to improve neonatal outcomes and reduce the high costs associated with premature births and extended neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stays. In 1996, Tokos merged with Healthdyne Maternity Management to form Matria Healthcare, which eventually became a leader in disease management services.
