Tombot has developed "Jennie," a hyper-realistic robotic puppy designed as an FDA-regulated medical device to provide companionship and alleviate behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, mild cognitive impairment, depression, PTSD, and loneliness. Clinical studies with hundreds of seniors have shown strong preference for realistic appearance/behavior. The company has completed engineering validation and regulatory steps ahead of commercial launch in mid-late 2025. Jennie responds to touch/voice/movement via sensors; a caregiver app allows customization. Peer-reviewed studies cited by the company indicate such devices can reduce hallucinations/aggression in dementia patients. Over 16,000 units are preordered/waitlisted as of June 2025.
