Company intelligence / Profile preview
TomoTherapy was a pioneering medical technology company that developed and manufactured the Hi-Art treatment system, an advanced platform for radiation oncology. The system uniquely integrated computed tomography (CT) imaging with helical radiation delivery, enabling highly precise image-guided intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IG-IMRT). By delivering radiation continuously from all angles as the gantry rotates, the technology allows for superior dose distribution that conforms to the shape of the tumor while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. Founded as a spin-off from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the company significantly advanced the standard of care for various cancers, including prostate, breast, and lung. In 2011, TomoTherapy was acquired by Accuray, and its helical delivery technology continues to be a core component of the Radixact and TomoTherapy product lines.
