Company intelligence / Profile preview
Torquin was a UK-based biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of small molecule inhibitors of the mTOR pathway for the treatment of cancer. A spin-out from the University of Dundee, the company was founded to commercialize research from the Medical Research Council (MRC) Protein Phosphorylation Unit. Torquin's primary focus was the development of dual mTORC1/mTORC2 inhibitors, which aimed to provide more comprehensive inhibition of the mTOR pathway compared to first-generation rapalogs. In 2010, the company was acquired by Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company, which integrated Torquin's research programs into its oncology pipeline.
