Torrent Gujarat Biotech

Torrent Gujarat Biotech Limited (TGBL) was an Indian biotechnology company specializing in the large-scale production of bulk drugs through fermentation technology. A joint venture between the Torrent Group and the Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation, the company was best known for its significant manufacturing capacity for Penicillin-G. The facility, located in Masar, Gujarat, was one of the largest of its kind in India during the 1990s. Following a period of financial distress caused by global price fluctuations in the antibiotics market, the company was merged into Torrent Pharmaceuticals in 2002. Today, its legacy remains part of the Torrent Group's manufacturing infrastructure.
