In December 2016, Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation was acquired by Canon Inc. for approximately $5.9 billion. As a result of this acquisition, the entity's operations were rebranded and integrated into Canon Medical Systems USA. The company's historical focus was primarily on the North American market, supporting the sales and distribution of Toshiba-branded medical devices.
