Toxilyon was a French contract research organization (CRO) and biotechnology company based in Lyon that specialized in predictive in vitro toxicology. The company's primary focus was the development and commercialization of alternative methods to animal testing, specifically for assessing skin sensitization. Its flagship technology, the SENS-IS assay, utilized a genomic approach to identify and categorize the sensitizing potential of chemical compounds and cosmetic ingredients. Toxilyon served clients in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and chemical sectors, helping them meet regulatory requirements while adhering to the 3Rs principle of animal welfare. The company was founded as a spin-off from academic research in Lyon but officially ceased its operations and was liquidated in 2018.
