Training and Research Unit of Excellence

The Training and Research Unit of Excellence (TRUE) is a Malawi-based research organization dedicated to conducting high-impact clinical trials and health research. Closely affiliated with the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) and Michigan State University, TRUE specializes in infectious diseases, with a world-renowned focus on the pathogenesis and treatment of cerebral malaria. The unit provides essential infrastructure for Phase 1 through Phase 4 clinical trials, contributing significantly to the development of malaria vaccines and therapeutic interventions. Beyond research, TRUE is committed to capacity building by training the next generation of Malawian and international scientists in clinical research methodologies.
