Company intelligence / Profile preview
Transition Therapeutics was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of novel therapeutics for central nervous system (CNS) and metabolic diseases. The company's lead product candidate, ELND005, was a small molecule investigated for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and agitation in patients with Alzheimer's. Transition also developed TT401, a once-weekly dual agonist of the GLP-1 and glucagon receptors for type 2 diabetes and obesity, which was licensed from Eli Lilly. In 2016, the company was acquired by OPKO Health in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $60 million. This acquisition allowed OPKO to expand its pipeline with late-stage assets in neurology and endocrinology.
