Translational Cancer Drugs Pharma (TCD Pharma) was a Spanish clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing first-in-class small molecule inhibitors for oncology. The company's lead candidate, TCD-717 (also known as RSM-932A), was a novel inhibitor of choline kinase alpha (ChoKα), an enzyme essential for the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine and a key driver of tumor cell proliferation. TCD-717 successfully completed a Phase 1 clinical trial in patients with advanced solid tumors, demonstrating a favorable safety profile and proof-of-mechanism. Founded as a spin-off from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the company aimed to exploit the differential requirement for ChoKα between malignant and normal cells. TCD Pharma's research platform also included several preclinical compounds targeting the same metabolic pathway to treat various aggressive cancers. Despite its early clinical progress and significant venture capital backing, the company is currently considered inactive or deadpooled.
