Translational Research Center for Medical Innovation

The Translational Research Center for Medical Innovation (TRI) is Japan's largest and most prominent Academic Research Organization (ARO), operating as a division of the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation at Kobe. TRI provides comprehensive support for the entire lifecycle of medical product development, including clinical trial design, data management, biostatistics, and regulatory consulting. The center serves as a critical bridge between basic laboratory research and clinical application, specializing in innovative drugs, medical devices, and regenerative medicine. Notably, TRI supported the world's first clinical trial using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for age-related macular degeneration. By collaborating with academia, government, and industry, TRI facilitates the translation of scientific discoveries into approved medical treatments within the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster.
