Transposagen Biopharmaceuticals was a private U.S. biotechnology company focused on genome engineering technologies, custom animal models, engineered cell lines, stem-cell services, and related research tools for drug discovery and development. The company was best known for its piggyBac transposon-based gene editing and integration platform, which it applied to knockout, knock-in, transgenic, humanized, conditional, and inducible rodent model generation. Its customers included pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, academic researchers, and government agencies rather than commercial therapeutic end markets. Transposagen also served as the genetic engineering origin of Poseida Therapeutics, which was spun out to pursue therapeutic applications. The company was acquired by Lonza, which subsequently incorporated Transposagen-derived piggyBac capabilities into its cell line development offering.
