Trino Therapeutics

Trino Therapeutics was developing oral small molecule drugs for inflammatory indications. The company's lead candidate, PH46A, was a potential first-in-class oral small molecule for inflammatory bowel disease treatment. Founded as a Trinity College Dublin spinout by Professors Neil Frankish and Helen Sheridan, the company leveraged a novel platform technology based on indane scaffold molecules derived from a Taiwanese fern. Additional molecules in the platform showed promise for dermatology, pulmonary, and autoimmune disease applications. The company secured significant backing, including over €9 million in funding in June 2013 from Fountain Healthcare Partners and the Wellcome Trust, as well as support from Enterprise Ireland and Growcorp. The company ceased operations in 2017.
