Company intelligence / Profile preview
TriPath Oncology was a molecular diagnostics company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of TriPath Imaging, Inc., which was acquired by Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) in 2006. The company specialized in the development of molecular diagnostic and pharmacogenomic products designed to improve the clinical management of cancer through better detection, diagnosis, and staging. Its product line included the Melastatin (TRPM1) gene expression assay for melanoma prognosis and the ProEx C immunohistochemistry test for cervical cancer screening. TriPath Oncology utilized its proprietary ProGEx technology and collaborated with partners like Millennium Pharmaceuticals to discover and validate novel protein and genomic biomarkers for breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers. Following its acquisition, the company's technologies were integrated into BD's cancer diagnostics portfolio.
