Company intelligence / Profile preview
Triton BioSystems was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of a non-invasive, targeted cancer treatment platform known as the Targeted Nano-Therapeutics (TNT) system. This technology employed magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles that were linked to monoclonal antibodies designed to seek out and bind to specific markers on cancer cells. After the nanoparticles accumulated in the tumor, the patient was exposed to a low-frequency alternating magnetic field, which caused the particles to heat up and destroy the malignant cells through localized hyperthermia. This approach aimed to provide a highly selective treatment for solid tumors while minimizing systemic side effects. The company's lead programs targeted indications such as breast and lung cancer. In 2008, Triton BioSystems was acquired by Aduro BioTech to bolster its portfolio of next-generation cancer therapies.
